Editing timeslices

To edit timeslices, select the Timeslice option on the right mouse button menu (Mouse (right)). A set of options will then be displayed, to allow you to Create, Move or Delete timeslices. Select whichever option you are interested in, as below,

To edit timeslices you must not have the option to hide timeslices in the graphics display, selected.

Creating a new timeslice

New timeslices can be created to mark time points of particular interest during the plasma pulse. Various diagnostic data will be loaded into the CPF for all selected timeslices. In addition various aspects of the plasma phase are calculated at each timeslice, to be stored in the TSLC PPF. All timeslices must be at one of the main time points on the KC1 time vector - ie they must be one of the timepoints defined for the MG2/XIP datatype They must also be at a time where the plasma current is above a certain threshold value. To create a new timeslice, select the Create option, and click with the right mouse button on the graphics window at the time you wish the new timeslice to be created. A dark blue dashed marker will then be displayed to indicate the time point selected, and a window will be displayed, as below, for you to select the reasons for setting that timeslice. Reasons must be selected for any newly created timeslice. Reasons in all the timeslice reason categories can be displayed and selected, clicking on a reason in the list will toggle between its selection and de-selection. Select or deselect the reasons as desired and then click OK. These reasons will then be stored to PPF if the timeslice data is saved to PPF.

Moving a timeslice

Timeslices can be moved - this is useful, for example, if you wish to delete one timeslice and create another one nearby. When timeslices are moved any existing reasons associated with that timeslice will be deleted and new reasons for the timeslice at the point moved to must be selected.

To move a timeslice, select the Move option and press the right mouse button above the timeslice you wish to move. A dark blue dashed marker will then be displayed above the timeslice selected. Keep the right mouse button depressed and move the cursor to the time point to which the timeslice should be moved, then release the mouse button.  A second blue marker should indicate the time which the timeslice is to be moved to. A window will be displayed asking for confirmation of the timeslice move - if reasons were selected for the timeslice before then a warning message will be displayed stating that these reasons will be lost. Select OK, or cancel as desired. If OK is pressed, a window will be displayed prompting you to select reasons for the new timeslice, as with timeslice creation. Select the required timeslice reasons and press OK.

Deleting a timeslice

To delete a timeslice, select the Delete option. Click with the right mouse button on the timeslice to be deleted, and a marker will be displayed indicating the timeslice selected. A window will be displayed asking for confirmation of the delete, select OK or cancel as desired.
